The People Who Started It All

There was a time when Viram Parbat Siju and Amarben Viram Siju had very little to call their own.
No large factory.
No investors.
No shortcuts.
Only an unshakable belief that the artisans of Bhujodi deserved a better future.
Starting from absolute zero, Viram Parbat Siju dedicated himself to travelling from village to village, working alongside artisans, earning their trust, and slowly building a family of craftsmen united by one purpose—to keep the heritage of Bhujodi alive.
But behind every step he took stood Amarben Viram Siju, whose sacrifices quietly became the foundation of everything they were building together.
Her day began long before sunrise.
She prepared meals for the family, cared for the children, collected firewood to light the traditional chulha, fetched water from the village, washed clothes by hand at the pond, and maintained the family home in the traditional way. Only after completing every household responsibility would she step into the shop.
From 1984 to 2010, Amarben managed the store every single day, welcomed customers, handled daily operations, and stood beside her husband through every challenge the business faced. While Viram was working to preserve the craftsmanship of Kutch and create opportunities for artisans, Amarben ensured that both the family and the business remained strong.

Today, many of the master artisans who continue to work with us are in their 70s and 80s. Their hands hold decades of experience, and every handcrafted creation reflects a lifetime of patience, skill, and devotion.
What began as the shared dream of Viram Parbat Siju and Amarben Viram Siju became a movement to preserve a legacy that continues to inspire generations.

Inspired by his parents’ vision, Navin Siju stepped into the journey with a promise—not to change what made Rakhiyo Hastkala special, but to help it reach the world.
While honouring the traditions of Bhujodi, he introduced a modern perspective by connecting timeless craftsmanship with contemporary designs, digital platforms, and customers across India and beyond.
